Wedding Rulz

Today! Today we are gathered here, To join two loved ones we hold dear! From near and far we have come to be, Man & Wife, we have come to see! One man, his family on his four sides, One woman, this family is the bride’s! Amidst a gathering of their closest friends, How many there are; well that depends! All listening to the service, filled with love! True blessings here, a gift from above! The clouds have parted and the rain stopped, For just this moment, when silence has dropped! Some wise rules we offer as life’s lessons taught, Because our hind-sight, may be your food for thought! So, before this poem goes on or goes too far, Let these wizened rules enter your Wedding Knowledge Jar! Wedding Rule #1: Greet each morning and each other with a smile, Don’t let that fade, not even after a while! Wedding Rule #2 When life has got you a little down, Lean on your partner, so you don’t drown! Wedding Rule #3 Be together in front of or in a crowd, But more together behind the everyday shroud! Wedding Rule #4 Life is LIFE, and sometimes gets in the way, So remember to take some time together just to play! Wedding Rule #5 Never fall to sleep, when at each other, you are mad, You’ve heard the truth, to do that can prove to be bad! Wedding Rule #6 Say “I LOVE YOU” as often as you can, For no one knows LIFE’s future plan! Wedding Rule #7 Treat your Wife like your Queen; your Husband like your King, For that is the significance of that finger and that ring! Wedding Rule #8 Your families all love you, but never let them come between, For even family’s good intentions can accidentally be mean! Wedding Rule #9 Whether your future together is robust or more mundane, Converse with each other about everything to avoid Life’s strain! Wedding Rule #10 Perhaps the most important rule and advice I can offer, RESPECT is the cornerstone ingredient for your coffer! With these ideals in the forefront of your conscience, It may just withhold some of Life’s tricky nonsense! And it is with the greatest of Love and Faith and Hope, That we wish you Life’s greatest treasures, and plenty of rope! By Lori A. Hamm 02August2018
