to my daughter I pray

I pray your body is used for Dancing I pray you thrust your entire body into laughter in a room full of people who understand you I pray you know friendships that embrace your body in warmth both in your joy & even tighter in your sorrow I pray your body is strong enough to walk you home on cobblestone roads, arms linked together with only the most deserving of company I pray that your body finds opportunity in the sunrise through an eastern window Mostly I pray that your body never comes apart at the seams, beet red and begging for forgiveness from inside the shower drain. And even if it does, I pray your body knows it was never to blame.
