Some words have fallen off the page; Leaving blank what others don’t see Two shadows separated by a cage One lost, and the other free As a willow tree rots with the gift of time, Frightful lies only grew forbidden crime A crime undone only by forgiveness The reddest rose left so colorless I can’t blame he who broke before the wall A house is left, void of the life that froze Wilted songs echo in the hall The serenity sees- yes, heaven knows I never understood why flowers wilt Why must something ever so beautiful Turn ever so ghastly- so very grim Why must I fall to be who broke before the wall When will I fall again as he tries to rise What hope is there that this bond will reprise Yes, two shadows separated by a cage The book lies closed, only a story spins within I never asked to be a puppet of this page- It never turns, never falters from our sin It never turns… Over and over we’ve watched this hell begin
