hiraeth

there's blood in the water, it fills up my lungs; we all die the same, though we speak different tongues. while there's no one around as i wait for my death, it's below the same sky we each breathe our last breath with the sun on my shoulders, the sea in my mouth, i long for the north though i'm traveling south. i went forth, i wandered, my dreams manifest; i belong in the east yet got lost in the west i returned to the ocean, from where i first came; away from this land though it loved me the same. i can't go back now but had i the chance, i'd sell my own soul for even a glance. because who doesn't yearn for the home of their heart? no matter the distance or time you're apart so i channeled this longing, my life eulogized; i've one last request now that you've been apprised if you grant me this truth, for my sins i'll atone; though we don't share a homeland, we all die alone
