Just Words
Words, they don’t matter
Words, they are usually forgotten
Words, who even heard them
Words, was anyone listening
Whether spoken or written
Words leave a trace
A lost note scribbled on scrap paper
A rush of emotion spewed out
Someone saw your words
Someone read your words
Someone heard your rant
Someone witnessed your exhalations
Were the words true?
Were the words in context?
Were the words valid?
Were the words as intended?
Words are thoughts
Thoughts are yours, until expressed
Shared thoughts are words exposed
Will the thoughts transcend to the right words?
What makes a word the right word?
Understanding…
Interpretation…
Tone…
Written words can be seen, read, and mistaken
Spoken words can be heard, replayed, and misunderstood
It’s not the only the speaker’s words
It’s challenged by the receiver’s reception
So how can it ever be just words?
