The Girl Behind The Armor

My cry for help was heard for no reason, Just a quiet call - my life’s small beacon. No one could hear, no one could see That I was slipping down silently. They only noticed when anger showed, When my heart turned cold and my walls all rose. When I hardened slowly, just like stone, Until all that was left was skin and bone. The girl I once was wasn’t there anymore. I didn’t ache, I didn’t feel sore. I didn’t know how to be - Just an empty shadow staring back at me. A hollow shell of who I’d been, A silent war I couldn’t win. A girl who called but none could see She only needed someone beside her to be. She fought so long, she fought so hard, Always holding up her guard. The battle roared inside her ears, Echoing loudly through the years. Now she’s tired of standing tall, Tired of fighting through it all. The battle still roars, the shadows appear, And all she wants - is to disappear.
