Always trying to escape.
Over and over and over and over.
Attempt after attempt after attempt.
You try to escape.
Pushing your body to the point it’s covered in cuts and bruises.
Overworking your mind to the point you have headaches that make you fall to your knees.
You do it because you want to escape.
But it doesn’t matter how hard you try;
It’s been decided that your fate lies in this place.
A place that’s cold and dark.
So dark you can’t see;
A darkness that weighs down the air.
A weight so heavy it can make one forget how to breathe.
So cold that the breath once invisible is not visible;
A coldness that numbs you, making it hard to move.
A place with hard flooring and rough walls;
The hard floor forces your feet to grow calluses.
The rough walls are the reason your body is covered in cuts and bruises.
In a place like this the only warmth your allowed is the blood that comes within.
It’s funny.
Makes you laugh.
The laughter is caused by the realization you will never escape.
Forever stuck;
Stuck in a place that makes you lose your mind.
And once you lose your mind you can’t get it back.
The cuts that came from the rough wall now come from you clawing at your skin.
The headaches aren’t a problem anymore.
You stopped overworking it.
You gave up, no longer trying to escape.
