I look into their faces and I know,
Needing no confirmation from their eyes;
Suffering has dulled the vibrance of hoping minds,
Desperate to find ease brought by dreams and other things, we soon find relief by the bottle.
Intoxicating, how a soul tries to get by,
Wasting on an empty wage, trading truth for lies. Doing nothing but hoping for better ways.
This reality dilutes, turning high proof into another poison you drink to excuse.
Everything is something you never choose to lose,
But still, you do.
Listen to the cold whispers of the clock, from the tick it dares to talk,
You won’t miss the mock.
Watch that two step timing attempts at a walk, take four steps backward, break ranks, don’t follow the cuckoo‘s flock.
Sacrificed ,or stolen? Our stilled by slow seconds of a shift, to swiftly slay wasted hours you sold and spent hoping for a hope yet you payments all missed
Drop that gross, childish notion.
That your hope is all you get, each wish made you more ill, till hoping made you sick.
Hope will be the shovel; don’t use it to shallow out your grave.
A wrong combination when two hands are bleeding. The blood from them will escape.
We have been over this
You alone dig out your suicidal ditch.
What a gift the iron spade made you persist.
Each toss of the dirt eludes that hope will bury you soon.
What is left to do, when hope is what is killing you?
Stop choking on tomorrow swallow the past down. Deepen your breath.
Calm, cool, assess what you have left.
Give that ticking thief not a wasted second of mess.
Toss away your number, and it just might land. Dicey is the luck leaving the gambling hands.
Needing a six, you roll a four, and roll a four again.
You wagered your life like you're owed the settled score. Please don’t you expected different.
Losing it all can earn you no more.
Dry your eyes; not once when broken was there a chance for a fix by tears.
Demand greatness from yourself now, then make that path clear.
Plant your two feet firmly on the ground you're standing, then shout, “I will die right here!”
To have no hope is to harbor no fear,
No longer listen to the defeated collective. Don’t you dare suffer any fool.
Abandon your hope, and take back your self-rule.
Perhaps I might be mistaken, and if that is so, I’ve been hit with persuasion.
Hope may be just the thing needed, but needed for who?
If it can ignite that inner fire, by all means, hope, and hope hard
Place it only in you
