The herd of elephants in the room above
Might drive another to the front desk,
But not me.
In times such as these,
Hearing children at play reminds me
That life will always go on,
And this brings quite a sense of ease.
A razor's edge would not be sharp enough
To properly describe the state of my nerves.
No matter.
For now, as long as the elephants
Disrupt my sleep with each blare of their horns
And sudden, booming leaps,
I can lie here drifting off to peace.
I am constantly reminded
Not to take myself so seriously.
Life still goes on,
And that is worth the delaying of some dreams.
