The Fork

There once was a fork That split right in two Two different roads With two different views The road on the right was guarded by good Who always stood firm And did what they should The road in the left Was guarded by ease Who swam with the masses And bent with the breeze Good held out their hand And beckoned to me The road on the right Will Lead where you need It’s straight and it’s narrow Though covered in rocks The trek will be harrowed And sure to have shocks But it’s good for the soul To experience strife So when harder times come You don’t forfeit your life Ease just laughs While slapping their knee Who wants the hard road When they can have me Ease pulls on my arm And says nonchalant Take only my road I’ll give what you want The way here is smooth With no strife to be seen the walk here is easy With no need to think The right or the left Which will I choose To stand on my feet Or bend to the breeze
